No remote connection

Hi,

I've done a number of SQL 2008R2 installs before and have never had a problem, however today I have had to install on Windows server 2012 (argh!!!) and can't seem to get connections from my local SSMS.

I have enabled connections, checked the port is not blocked - all ok.  Anything else to check?

TITLE: Edit Server Registration Properties
------------------------------

Testing the registered server failed. Verify the server name, login credentials, and database, and then click Test again.

------------------------------
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Connection Timeout Expired. The timeout period elapsed while attempting to consume the pre-login handshake acknowledgement. This could be because the pre-login handshake failed or the server was unable to respond back in time. The duration spent while attempting to connect to this server was - [Pre-Login] initialization=21030; handshake=0; (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: -2)
