Not enough space on disk... there's plenty

Hi,

  • SQL 2012.

This is really strange.  Randomly getting out of disk space messages when selecting from a view or even select @@VERSION or select 1

I thought this was to do with one of the databases as I am unable to remove it's growth limit of 2097152 in the options box. Actually this is still a question, whatever I do I'm unable to remove this limit, any ideas why?   No error is thrown when setting this value to "unlimited" however on refresh of the database tree the value still is limited to...

But more pressingly I cannot run simple queries on this box. The data disk for user and system databases has 290GB of free space so space is not an issue, unless it's because of the limit shown in the picture above.

Running select 1, select @@version or right click select top 1000 rows throws this error

I have some time for a server reboot if required, however as I've already restarted the instance I'm not holding out much hope.

Any ideas because I'm stumped.

Thanks
