I have about a couple of dozens of DBs in SQL2000. The way it was setup previously was a DB by year. So, we have DB1990, DB1991, etc
I have a .NET application that's currently connected to SQL2012.
The new business requirement is we need to access a few tables from the dozens of DBs in SQL2000. I cannot merge the data from those few tables into SQL2012. Table structure is different from year to year.
how do I connect SQL2012 to SQL2000?
1) linked servers? Will this have a problem with double hop?
What is the best practice in achieving the new business requirements?
