Starting from Tools/connect to database/Microsoft Access Database File and then pointing to a MDB file or an accdb file results in an error message "unrecognized database format".
I'm using Visual Studio Community 2015 and with "Sams Teach Yourself Visual Basic 2015 in 24 Hours", am attempting to learn Visual Basic! Hour 21 is "Working with a database" and goes through
an introduction of ADO.NET and then starts leading me through an example, which breaks with the problem above. The book also provides solutions, so I have checked the solution provided for this example and it falls over with the same messages.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled VS Community but haven't been able to get any further.
Any direction/suggestions would be most appreciated. Thank you.
