I'm restoring a .bak to our dev system using SSMS 2014. I am aware of the activity monitor but was wondering if there is a way to check on the restore to see if it's processing properly. I recently tried doing a restore and it went for a few hours and I decided it was not progressing properly, so I decided to delete it ( that was prior battle ) Anywho,
Our database size ( looking at restore from filelist) commands indicates the .mdf file is 270 gb and the log file is 209 gb. A colleague has done several restores in the past with the same .bak file and it took 30 min.
The only difference, is i'm restoring to a usb hard drive due to lack of disk space ;-)
