Users Connect to DB and that slows down their PC

SQL Server: 2008 R2

Problem:  Users are connecting to a DB via an APP on their PC.  They have been connecting the same way for several years.  About a month ago, they started complaining that every PC that connects to that DB slows down tremendously. 

I don't know anything about that APP. 

I ran a query that showed me a single user having up to 46 connections to that DB. Please see screen shot. 

Please advice.
