How to restore in this scenario?
Full Backup: 12:30 am every night
Log backup: every 2 hours
So, the full backup completed at 11/8/2015 12:30am. Old SQL Server totally dies at 11/8/2015 1:45am.
Rebuild a new server and re-install a new SQL Server instance.
If I was not able to retrieve the t-log files, I'm guessing I'll restore the full backup completed at 11/8/2015 12:30am; and that will be it.
However, if I was able to retrieve the t-log files (*.ldf), how do I restore and recover the transactions from 12:30 - 1:45?
1. Restore the full backup as of 11/8/2015 12:30am.
2. How do I recover the transactions from 12:30am - 1:45am from tlog files (*.ldf)? The old SQL Server is dead; how do I perform tail-log backup with the tlog files (*.ldf) on a newly built server?
